The Riggins Idaho Steelhead Derby is a “Jackpot-Style” derby. With every ticket that is bought the pot grows until the end of the contest on March 29th 5:00 PM.
You must purchase a derby ticket for each day you would like to participate, derby tickets are punched for the day you want to enter a qualifying Steelhead. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at participating businesses.
1st Prize* – 50% of the combined gross of all derby ticket proceeds will be awarded as the jackpot.
2nd Prize - $500.00 cash prize
3rd Prize – G-Loomis Steelhead Rod Retail value $300.00
Released Fish Contest
For those who would rather release their hatchery Steelhead they can enter a picture of their Steelhead that was released the day of their derby ticket date. The winning picture will be eligible for the $500.00 winning picture picked by the official Riggins Steelhead Derby Judges. Note: In an effort to keep wild fish in the river, they are not a part of this contest.
Guide Prize
All participating outfitters and their guides are automatically entered in the guide prize contest and are qualified if the winning fisherman was on their boat on a guided trip. Guides must be employed by a participating outfitter and be licensed by the IOGLB. If a winner is not on a guided trip the closest entry will be selected, .25 cents per ticket will be used for the guide pot.
*10% off the top goes to ISSU (Idaho Salmon and Steelhead) and .25 per ticket goes to the guide pot.
Rules:
- All anglers must have a Idaho fishing license and abide by all Idaho fish and game rules and regulations
- Derby tickets must be purchased and punched by an official ticket vendor.
- It is the responsibility of each participant to read, be aware of and observe all Derby Rules and Regulations.
- Contestants must fish only on the Main Salmon River from the Confluence of the South Fork of the Salmon to the Confluence with the Snake River and also includes the Little Salmon River.
- If there is a tie, the first calendar entry will be announced as the winner
- All entry fish caught on a derby ticket must be measured before 7 pm on the day caught and 5pm on Sundays. The fish and angler must be transported to Hook Line and Sinker in Riggins for an official measurement of their entry.
- Entrants for the released fish contest must present a valid derby ticket and picture to Hook Line and Sinker or email to the
Riggins Chamber of Commerce, Riggins, ID 83549. The released fish must be caught and the picture taken on the same date. If you are mailing in an entry you must provide a signed affidavit of the fact. Released fish entries are limited to one entry per day of fishing.
- All fish presented for entry must be whole with no abnormal coloring due to forced stretching and or unethical tampering to increase the size. Any Steelhead derby official may disqualify any contestant, using their judgement, if there is any signs of impropriety.
- All entries and awarding of prizes are subject to review and final determination by the Riggins Salmon River Chamber of Commerce Derby committee. Participants may be subject to a polygraph test.
- The Riggins Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to: photograph all derby entrants, reproduce any photographs for publicity purposes, and retain all photo rights.
- All prize winners are responsible to cover all taxes and fees associated with prize winnings. Prizes may be subject to withholding based on IRS requirements.
