Purpose of Ceremony: To welcome salmon back to their ancestral waters. Also, to bring together the native and non-native communities to help heal old wounds from a common historical legacy of social injustices. Sacred Boat Circle: a lead dory with drummers and singers, followed by a parade of additional craft will circle the Spring Bar Salmon Eddy in a sacred manner Anyone is welcome to bring their own boat or raft and participate. Sacred Salmon Circle: after the river eddy-dance, a special Salmon Circle will be made above shoreline. Time will be given to anyone who wishes to express their feelings of thanks to the Salmon Nation, and passions from the heart about our Potluck Friendship Feast: Wild game, fish, food, and drink will conclude the event and give people a chance to relax, visit and share stories. All people are encouraged to bring any kind of food (wild when possible) and drink, aside from alcohol. This is a non-alcoholic event. Please respect this observance. Thank you. Where: Spring Bar, upriver of Riggins about 12 miles. Turn east off the main highway south of Riggins. Cross the Little Salmon River, then follow the main Salmon River until you get to Spring Bar, about 1 mile upriver of Allison Creek. About dogs: Please kennel, secure, or leave pets at home. Thank you. Other activities in Riggins Area: for folks who travel from afar, there is also a salmon season in the Big and Little Salmon Rivers for sportfishing, and Nez Perce dip net fishing in Rapid River. Salmon fishing is split 50/50 between Indian and non-Indian fishing rights. Several local outfitters, including us (Wapiti River Guides –
